Nginx > Apache HTTPD.

The most used web server softwares in the world I believe are Nginx and Apache HTTPD. I may be a little bias because I have much more experiance with Nginx, but in comparision Apache HTTPD seems to have more vulnerabilities/issues and a harder configuration system. Although it's not all that bad, Apache HTTPD has the ability to split up the config file for more organization, a feature that atleast to my knowledge Nginx doesn't have unless you want to cheat with PHP.

Stable Self Hosting.

Recently I spoke with Cody at Silver Squirrel Digital Designs who brought up some wise and experienced points about hosting websites, among other things such as the awesome magic of Wordpress, needed website interactivity, his mobile first approach, and Google SEO content. Some of his points about website infrastructure includes the cost of maintenance, bearing of hard responsibility, and need for moderation, mostly siding with cloud infrastructure which fit him best. However I think self-hosting has advantages, it could be worth the work if you have custom server software because of absurdly high cloud infrastructure costs. Open-source and permissively licensed software makes sustainability and stability readily available for use without full reliance on the cloud; take, for example, Kubernetes and Docker, which allows "it just works" automatic deployment and scaling across servers in both local and cloud infrastructure.

My New Website!

I just put together this website and learned about Nginx Proxy Manager, a very neat server software that proxies multiple domain names to where traffic needs to go. It also provides automatic free TLS certificates through Let's Encrypt, a great non-profit certificate authority, and protection against common web attacks.
